NotifiedSum is a calculation and record-keeping tool, not a law firm, and nothing on this site is legal advice. Your contract's own payment terms usually apply instead of the Scheme, and whether a notice is valid depends on its content and how it was served. Check important deadlines against your contract, and take advice from a construction solicitor or adjudication specialist before relying on them in a dispute.

Calculations follow the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 as amended by Part 8 of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009, and the Scheme for Construction Contracts (England and Wales) Regulations 1998 as amended in 2011. The Scottish and Northern Irish versions use the same periods; the Act applies to "construction contracts" as it defines them and excludes some work and contracts with residential occupiers. Bank holiday data comes from GOV.UK and covers 2024 to 2028.

We do not assess whether an application or notice is valid, whether it was properly served, or whether the Act applies to your contract. Those questions need a qualified adviser.
